John was an active person through life. He took care of his family, worked hard, and built a decent retirement fund. He raised children with his wife, traveled with her, and did many of the things he always wanted to do. When he was in his 80s, widowed, and living alone, he began to have difficulty getting around. However, he still wanted to remain active.
Like many seniors today, John was a highly active individual.
Even though his body began to fail him, over time, he didn’t want to stop playing golf, going to the park with friends, and even walking around the mall to get exercise. However, he didn’t have friends in the area who were able to help him anymore. They were dealing with their own challenges.
He also didn’t have family living close by.
This became frustrating because even though his body was beginning to give up on him, there were many things he wanted to do. The last thing John wanted was to sit around the house waiting for each day to come to an end.
That’s when he found out about home care support.
John was told by a close friend that he could hire a home care aide through an agency and get the physical assistance he needed to continue doing many of the things that were important to him. John was nervous behind the wheel of his car and would rather not drive anymore. He just didn’t want to give up his license to drive and be stranded.
He began looking into home care options.
He discovered that through an agency in town he could have a home care aide stopping by for a few hours at a time, in the morning and evening and possibly somebody throughout the day who could assist him with many tasks.
He also discovered that hiring the right home care aide meant he would have somebody supporting him wherever he needed to go, within reason. This home care aide could assist him getting to the store, going to a doctor’s appointment, getting out to the park, going to a museum or art gallery, or even simply going to a local café to have an afternoon drink with some friends.
Home care options are great for those who wish to remain at home and those who may still be active, but who need physical assistance throughout the day.
